New Delhi: Tumblr is all set to unveil its own Q&A platform that will showcase its popular users answering questions of their fans. This would put the blogging site in direct competition with Reddit’s popular AMA (Ask Me Anything) sessions.
The platform, named -Answer Time, will feature famous personalities, musicians, artists, actors, politicians, and internet personalities, including Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, children's author Lois Lowry, rapper Vic Mensa, and Tumblr founder David Karp.
Answer Time will debut on July 8 and prior to the session, featured interviewees will open their blog’s built-in ‘Ask’ boxes to field questions from anyone using the site, a Fast Company report notes.
The site boasts of an estimated 30-50 million active users and Answer Time isn’t the first experiment the blogging site has undertaken on similar lines. It has hosted the popular ‘Dashboard Confessions’ during which it featured interviews with a host of musicians and bands.
Taking on the highly successful Reddit AMA, which has welcomed personalities including scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson, comedian Jerry Seinfeld; Tumblr’s own platform will function as another medium for creative people to get in direct touch with their fans and answer their queries.
The Tumblr Answer Time will debut with an interview featuring pop-punk band Fall Out Boy.
