Indrans and Jaffer Idukki are all set to star in the upcoming Malayalam film titled Kuttante Shinigami. It is said to be based on a Japanese belief. Directed by Rasheed Parakkal, the film is touted to be a fusion of humour, fantasy and investigation.

In the film, the term Shinigami translates to Kalan in Japanese. The movie revolves around a character who has undergone training in Japan and obtained a doctorate in Shinigami studies. Put in another way, the upcoming film explores the life of Kuttan, a villager from Thingalur. Actor Jafer Idukki joins the cast as a spirit named Kuttan, while Indrans portrays the role of the Shinigami. Director Rasheed Parakkal highlighted that these characters are depicted without any conventional norms associated with such roles.

Indrans is set to portray a character in a completely new role. Joining the cast of Kuttante Shinigami are Sunil Sukhada, Sreejith Ravi, and Anish G. Additionally, the film features Menon, Sumesh Moor, Shaju, Ashraf, Munshi Ranjith, Unni Raja, Sinoj Varghese, Akhila, Chandana, Arya Viju, and others in significant roles.

Shinigami, originating from the Japanese term are deities that symbolise death in various facets of Japanese religious beliefs and cultural practices. They have been depicted as both monstrous entities and benevolent assistants, as well as beings linked with darkness. Shinigami hold significant roles in Japanese folklore, mythology, and religious traditions.

Indrans and Jaffer Idukki were part of the 2023 film Jackson Bazaar Youth, released on May 19. Although the movie didn’t achieve significant success at the box office the critics praised the performances of the lead actors, which include Indrans, Jaffer Idukki, and Lukman. The seasoned actors, in particular, were applauded for their compelling scenes in the film. But it’s important to mention that certain scenes portraying custodial torture might be intense for some viewers.

Indrans was last seen in the film Anweshippin Kandethum. The actor has a few films lined up including Nadikar, Nancy Rani, Uduppu, Joy Full Enjoy, Kannadi Talkies, Nuna, DNA and Sreebala, to name a few. On the other hand, Jaffer Idukki will be seen in films like Son of Gangster, Chera, Eravu, Big Ben, Kadakan and Little Hearts among others.
