Director Atlee showed respect to actor Shah Rukh Khan by touching his feet following his win at a recent award show in Mumbai. Atlee received the Best Director award for ‘Jawan’ during the ceremony on Sunday evening. The film was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2023 and it featured Shah Rukh Khan essaying two characters.
Popular paparazzo handle Manav Manglani on Instagram shared the snippet, capturing a special moment between the pair at the event. In the clip, as the announcement of the winner was made, the room erupted in applause, and Atlee got up, hands joined in respect. Seated beside Shah Rukh Khan, Atlee then showed his reverence by touching the actor’s feet.

Shah Rukh, wearing a smile, attempted to dissuade Atlee, without success, and followed up with a warm embrace and a kiss. Atlee then made his way to the stage, where he was greeted and presented the trophy by actor Rani Mukerji, leading to smiles and a quick exchange between the two. For the occasion, Atlee was dressed in a blue and white printed ensemble with shoes, while Shah Rukh chose a sleek black blazer, trousers, and matching shoes.
Released on September 7 last year, Jawan also starred Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Deepika Padukone in key roles. The film received positive reviews from critics and was widely loved by all. Several celebrities including Karan Johar, Allu Arjun, SS Rajamouli, Kangana Ranaut, Sidharth Malhotra, Tiger Shroff and Ameesha Patel among others also praised the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan minted over Rs 1,100 crore worldwide.
At the moment, Atlee is engrossed in his maiden Bollywood production Baby John, an action-packed drama and a remake of his 2016 Tamil hit Theri. Co-produced by him, the film is written and directed by Kalees and features Varun Dhawan in the titular role. The star-studded cast includes Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, Sanya Malhotra (making a special appearance), Sheeba Chaddha and Rajpal Yadav. Reports are rife that he might collaborate with Ram Charan and Salman Khan for his next two projects.
