UP CM urges Dalits, backwards to unite
Mulayam Singh Yadav has urged Dalits and backwards in the Uttar Pradesh to come together to vote him back to power.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav is leaving no stone unturned ahead of the Assembly elections.

Mulayam urged Dalits and backwards in the state to come together and "thwart the designs" of the Congress, BJP and BSP to overthrow his government in the upcoming Assembly elections.

"The Congress, BJP and BSP have joined hands and are asking their partymen to dislodge my government. You should get your photo I cards prepared to give them a befitting reply in the coming polls," news agency PTI quoted the Chief Minister as telling a Dalit-backward classes rally in Lucknow.

He also slammed the former Prime Minister and Jan Morcha leader V P Singh and said those who change their garb in keeping with the occasion could never work in the interest of the poor and backward people.

Meanwhile, SP general secretary Amar Singh accused former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee and Congress President Sonia Gandhi of joining hands against Yadav and "singing the same tune...".

Amar Singh also slammed Amethi Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, alleging he did not know about particular castes in the state, but was "projected as the future Prime Minister". Singh also accused BSP leader Mayawati of using Dalits and backwards for personal and political gains.
