New Delhi: Much to the disappointment of leaders like Keshubhai Patel and Suresh Mehta, the rebel factor failed to create much impact on the outcome of the BJP's prospects in the Gujarat Assembly elections.

Only one out of the seven sitting BJP MLAs, who had crossed over to the Congress, managed to win the elections. The rebels were not able to swing Patel or Koli votes to the Congress in any substantial manner as they had claimed earlier.

Meanwhile, the two Congress MLAs who had crossed over to the BJP — Neema Acharya and Pabubha Manek — have won the elections from Anjar and Dwarka respectively.

A rebel leader from Kutch, Narendrasinh Jadeja had won as a BJP candidate in 2002 from Abdasa. However, this time around, BJP's Jayantilal Parsottam Bhanushali won the seat.

A rebel leader from Kutch, Dhua had won as a BJP candidate in 2002 from Mundra SC. However, BJP's Ramesh Vachchhraj Maheshwari won the seat.

Bhadani had won the 2002 assembly elections on a BJP ticket from Lathi constituency. Hanubhai Dhorajiya of the BJP won the seat this time.

Tanti had won the 2002 assembly elections on a BJP ticket from Dhari constituency. This year, he lost the seat to BJP's Mansukhbhai Panchabhai Bhuva.

He had won the 2002 assembly elections on a BJP ticket from the same constituency. He contested from Babra on a Congress ticket this time around and was the only rebel MP to win.
