Swati Maliwal Submits Formal Complaint with Delhi Police in Assault Case
AAP's Rajya Sabha MP recorded her statement before the Delhi Police, after a team had been at her house for more than four hours in connection with the alleged assault on her at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's residence

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Thursday submitted a formal complaint to the Delhi Police on her allegations of misbehaviour and assault against a close aide of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Her statement was recorded by a two-member team at her residence in central Delhi.

According to the police, Maliwal told them about the incident that took place at the CM’s residence on May 13. With her statement recorded, an FIR might be registered in connection with the matter, the police added.

Sources said the former DCW chairperson submitted two-and-a-half pages, elaborating on the sequence of events that took place at the Delhi CM’s official residence. She has named Bibhav Kumar, a personal staff member of Kejriwal, as the accused.

The Delhi Police was at Maliwal’s house for more than four hours in connection with the alleged assault, officials said. Led by additional commissioner of police PS Kushwaha, the team went to the residence around 1.50 pm to seek details of the incident, they added. Kushwaha was accompanied by a woman police officer.

Earlier in the day, the National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar over Maliwal’s allegations. His hearing is scheduled for Friday at 11 am. On May 14, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh had said the incident with Maliwal was “highly condemnable”.
