UP Chief Minster says Election Commission must not get influence by the Centre; says he will sweep polls.

New Delhi: The Election Commission should conduct impartial elections in Uttar Pradesh and not come under the Centre’s influence, said Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday.

"I am confident that the Election Commission would continue to discharge its obligation independently and impartially without being influenced by the centre," he said in Etawah at a Samajwadi Party function.

"The coming state assembly polls are the most crucial for the party and their outcome would change the political scenario in the country," Yadav told party workers.

"The Congress, BJP and BSP have joined hands together against the SP, which has been starving hard to preserve national unity, solidarity and democracy by fighting against the communal forces."

Yadav alleged that the Congress and the BJP are using the serial murders in Noida for political gains but he had never done so. "We have never played politics on human bodies," he said.

The chief minister said the state government acted promptly as soon as the killings came to light and taken action against the erring policemen.

Yadav also claimed that his government had initiated measures for the welfare of every section of the society.

UP’s people have appreciated the SP’s government's performance in three and half years, he said.
