Bhind: A day before the counting of votes, a postman reportedly carrying over 250 postal ballots was beaten up in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday. The ballot papers were also looted from him.
The police have nabbed three men in connection with the incident and the bag full of ballot papers has also been recovered.
Votes polled in five states – Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Mizoram and Rajasthan will be counted on December 11 (Tuesday).
The incident happened when postman Rajendra Yadav was attacked by three men while he was passing in front of the District Jail. City SP Alok Sharma claimed that Yadav was heading to the Collectorate in the afternoon.
Congress MLA from Ater, Hemant Katare alleged a local BJP leader to be behindthe incident.
The incident comes days after scores of postal ballots meant for police personnel were found unattended in a police canteen in Bhopal. A subsequent probe found some police personnel guilty of slackness.
