Mere speeches from Govt not enough: Kejriwal
Arvind Kejriwal said that the IAC welcomed the commitment of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Lokpal.

New Delhi: Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that the India Against Corruption welcomed the commitment of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Lokpal.

Kejriwal expressed hope that the government would honour her commitment of getting a strong and effective Lokpal Bill during the winter session of Parliament.

However, taking on the UPA chairperson, he said that mere speeches would not be enough from the government’s side.

This came after Sonia took on Team Anna on the issue of graft saying corruption could not be fought by speeches.

In her speech, which was read out to the crowd in Uttrakhand by Defence Minister AK Antony, she said that corruption cannot be fought by speeches.

In an obvious reference to Team Anna, she had said, "These days there is a lot of talk about corruption. There is no doubt that corruption is a big disease and effects everyone. There should be an atmosphere against corruption. But speeches cannot end corruption."
