J&K NC Leader Quits Party to Join Street Protests, Raises Anti-India Slogan
He announced his decision in Anantnag town in the evening and joined a street protest shouting pro-freedom slogans.

The National Conference leader, Iftikhar Hussain Misger, who unsuccessfully contested in the recent assembly by election against the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti from Anantnag constituency, resigned from his party.

He has surrendered his security provided by the government saying that people of his hometown are his biggest security.

He has also raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans and is likely to join the Hurriyat conference.

Conflicting reports also suggested that the NC leader was forced to shout the slogan although it couldn't be verified.

NC leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah were however yet to comment on this sudden development.

The current unrest in Kashmir valley is forcing some political leaders to change their strategies to remain relevant in public life.
