New Delhi: While Bharatiya Janata Party fared pretty well in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections winning 25 seats, the party failed to achieve it's "Mission 44" which would have enabled the party to form a government in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigned extensively for the party in the state but still it could not win a single seat in Kashmir with most of its candidates forfeiting their deposit. While the PM could not leave any impact in Kashmir valley even after campaigning in Srinagar, the party fared well in Jammu region.
Modi campaigned for eight seats in Jammu region out of which BJP managed to win four seats. Modi's campaign in Kathua, Sambha, Kishtwar, Billawar and Jammu City helped the BJP candidates bagging the seat while candidates from Rajouri, Udhampur and Poonch could not gain from the PM's rally.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi fared much worse as his party did very poorly. The results proved to be yet another set back for Rahul as the Congress won only 11 seats.
He campaigned for the candidates of Darhal, Bani, Lolab and Poonch but none of them managed to win their respective seats.
