He may start the controversial tour from July 8 though the party is yet to accord a formal permission to it.

Hyderabad: Congress MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to go ahead with his controversial 'Odarpu yatra' from July 8 though the party high command is yet to accord a formal permission to it.

"There is no change in the schedule. He will resume his yatra from July 8. The family members of late Rajasekhara Reddy explained the need to resume the yatra to Sonia Gandhiji when they met her in Delhi recently. The yatra is being started as we feel that she is not opposed to it," state Congress secretary A Rambabu, a close associate of YS Jagan, said in Hyderabad.

Jagan and his mother YS Vijayalakshmi met Sonia Gandhi two days ago and told her about the need to resume the yatra. There was no official word on what transpired at the meeting.

Jagan had been in the eye of a storm after he defied the party high command's directive and went ahead with his yatra in Warangal district last month.

The yatra sparked off violent protests from Telangana supporters as Jagan is opposed to division of Andhra Pradesh.

Subsequently, Jagan had met Union Minister and in charge of Congress affairs in AP Veerappa Moily and claimed that the high command had given him permission to go ahead with the yatra. The claim was dismissed by Moily.
