Hyderabad: Putting the ruling party in a spot, the YSR Congress Party has asked Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to join hands for a united fight to get promised Special Category Status for the state.
YSR Congress President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has appealed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to ask TDP MPs to quit en-masse, along with YSRCP MPs to mount pressure on the Centre.
The YSRCP MPs have threatened to resign on April 6th, if Special Status is not granted to the state.
“TDP should join us in the resignations which would put the Centre into action mode. We need to put up joint fight and send out strong message to Centre with all 25 MPs from state resigning together,” said Jagan Reddy.
Reiterating that Special Status was promised in the Parliament which was strongly advocated by BJP, Jagan said, “That is the reason why we have given the slogan ‘SCS is our right and do not get cheated with Special Packages.’ We will settle for nothing short of Special Status.”
YSRCP has announced agitation at Collector offices on March 1st in all 13 districts. On March 3, the party leaders will flag off the rally to take the fight to national capital. YSRCP leaders would protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on March 5, when the Budget session will resume.
The TDP, however, had called resignations a drama. Denying any pressure on TDP, Diwaker Reddy, MP, said,“YSRCP is only doing drama. The resignations will not get special status for the state.”
