Hyderabad: Protesting against the Andhra Pradesh government's "fascist attitude" over the alleged suicide of a pro-Telangana youth in the national capital, the Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC) has called for a bandh in the region on Friday.
"We believe that the government tried to get the body (of Yadi Reddy) cremated there itself. This is not the first time the government tried to interfere in the funeral procession of martyrs. The government is not allowing people to see the bodies," JAC Convener M Kodandaram told reporters here today.
"This should be seen in the larger context of suppressing the pro-Telangana agitation. The Chief Minister held a meeting yesterday and wanted to impose ESMA against the pro-Telangana employees who are planning to go on strike in August. These repressive measures are aimed at continuing the domination of
Seemandhra rulers. We are calling for a bandh tomorrow in protest against this fascist attitude," he said.
TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao appealed to the people to make the shut down a success.
Yadi Reddy, a youth from Ranga Reddy district, upset over the delay in formation of separate Telangana state, allegedly committed suicide near India Gate on Wednesday.
High drama was witnessed at the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi on Thursday with TRS MLA T Harish Rao allegedly beating up a senior official of the Bhavan after authorities refused to allow inside their premises the body of the youth.
