Haryana elections: BJP denies ticket to local leader, favours 'outsider' in Adampur
With the BJP playing both the Modi card as well as caste card in Adampur, party leaders are confident that the plan will prove to a success.

Adampur: The Bharatiya Janata Party played the caste card in Adampur constituency of Haryana by giving the ticket to a leader belonging to backward class and ignoring the local leader. Even though BJP candidate Karan Singh Ranauliya did not belong to the constituency, he was favoured over Pawan Khariya.

While a large numbers of BJP workers had high hopes that Khariya will be the candidate, the party changed its decision just hours before the end of nomination. "As hopes of many were shattered, there was no campaigning for Ranauliya for the first few days," said Praveen Arya, a BJP youth leader.

When asked about his reaction over the denial of ticket, Khariya said, "I am a true soldier of the party. BJP is my mother and will work for it till my last breath. From 2009-2014, I was BJP's public face here. I have spread the message of the party in every corner of the constituency."

On the question of raising the matter with the party high command, he said, "The party told me that if you want to do politics, then support Karan Singh Ranauliya."

Khariya has been campaigning extensively for Ranauliya. "I start my day at 6 AM, address meetings, door-to-door campaigning and work till 11 PM," he added.

He was confident of the BJP government in Haryana and said, "Like Lok Sabha elections, Adampur will be swept by the Modi wave."

With the BJP playing both the Modi card as well as caste card in Adampur, party leaders are confident that the plan will prove to a success.
