Darjeeling: GNLF chief Subhash Ghising who was driven out of Darjeeling in 2008 after the GJM took over the movement for a separate state of Gorkhaland, on Friday returned to the hills for the first time to campaign for party candidates in the West Bengal Assembly elections.
Ghising, along with party supporters, were driven to Darjeeling around noon amidst tight security. The once strongman of the hills is currently staying in a
rented house in adjoining Jalpaiguri district.
GNLF sources said that Ghising would stay at his Jalapahar residence in Darjeeling. He will be campaigning for Gorkha National Liberation Front candidates for the Darjeeling, Kurseong and Kalimpong assembly seats.
