The CBI had in 2001 charged Sonia Gandhi's former personal secretary of amassing assets beyond his income.
New Delhi: In a relief for Congress President Sonia Gandhi's close aide Vincent George, the CBI has closed a 12-year disproportionate assets case filed against him. The CBI had in 2001 charged Sonia's former personal secretary of amassing assets beyond his income.
The agency withdrew the case recently citing insufficient evidence in its closure report. George remains Sonia's close aide.
He came under suspicion following disclosures made by former Enforcement Directorate deputy director Ashok Aggarwal.
