New Delhi: The BJP has asked three of its general secretaries to hold dialogue with party MLAs in Uttarakhand to finalise the chief minister of the state.

According to party sources, a three-member team of Ravi Shankar Prasad , Gopinath Munde and Om Prakash Mathur are expected to reach Uttarakhand on Thursday and meet BJP legislators before announcing the name of the new leader.

Former Union Minister B C Khanduri is the frontrunner for the CM's post but former chief minister Bhagat Singh Koshiyari has also thrown his hat in the ring.

On his part Khanduri says he will take it as "a good opportunity" to serve the people of the state.

BJP President Rajnath Singh had called Koshiyari to Delhi and is believed to have brokered peace between Koshiyari and Khanduri.

Meanwhile, the Central leaders have another tough task in hand with the party being one seat short of the halfway mark. It will have to tie up with the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal or Independents to form the new government.
