'Anna stir deserves place in school syllabus'
The Jharkhand HRD Minister said future generations deserve to know about Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement.

Ranchi: Jharkhand Human Resources Development Minister Baijnath Ram on Saturday said Anna Hazare's crusade against corruption should be included in school syllabus to enable future generations know about his movement which united the people from across the country.

"Anna Hazare deserves a thought whether his plank against anti-corruption should be included in school syllabus," Ram said in Ranchi.

"His ongoing movement, which attracted people from all age groups spontaneously, reminds several freedom fighters during India's struggle for independence and 1974 movement by Jaiprakash Narayan that united the whole country.

"Therefore, future generations deserve to know about Anna Hazare and his anti-corruption movement just like we read of Subhas Chandra Bose and Jaiprakash Narayan about their leadership during our school days," Ram said.

"It is a matter of deliberation by everyone. I have just given my opinion," he said, when asked whether his HRD department would take any initiative in this regard.

Meanwhile, several groups of students, advocates and social activists continued their support to Anna Hazare by taking turns to fast at various places while others took out processions in his support across Jharkhand.

The left parties issued a press release stating that they would observe protest on August 23 to demand effective Lokpal Law and alleged attack on democratic rights by the Central government.
