2G: Oppn adamant on JPC, calls Manmohan weak
BJP leader Arun Jaitley called Manmohan Singh a weak prime minister for failing to act against corruption.

New Delhi: The opposition on Saturday turned down Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's appeal to allow parliament to function, saying that a Joint Parliamentary Probe was necessary to ensure action in the 2G spectrum scam.

Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, BJP leader Arun Jaitley called Manmohan Singh a weak prime minister for failing to act against corruption.

"The Prime Minister has good track record in statements of intent but a very poor track record in penalising the currupt," said Jaitley.

CPI(M) leader Brinda karat also turned down the PM's appeal to allow parliament to function saying a joint parliamentary probe is necessary to ensure action against the guilty.

"Its in the interest of the government to have a JPC," she said.

Speaking at the HT Summit, the Prime Minister had appealed to the opposition to allow parliament to resume saying that all issues can be discussed in the Parliament.
