A petition filed by Zakia Jafri, the wife of late Congress MP Ehsan Jafri who was killed in the massacre, challenged the order of a local court which upheld a special investigation team's (SIT) clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others in the 2002 riots case.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the Gujarat High Court had filed a closure report on February 8, 2012, saying there was no evidence against Modi in the riots.
