'... Pakistan Ab Koi Match Naa Jeetein': Veteran Cricketer's Scathing Remarks After Afghanistan Loss
Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal said he if cricket in Pakistan has to uplifted then Babar Azam & Co should not win their remaining games in the World Cup.

The Pakistan cricket fraternity continues to make scathing remarks over Babar Azam-led side since their defeat at the hands of Afghanistan in the ICC World Cup 2023. On Monday, the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side registered their biggest successful chase in ODIs to stun Pakistan in Chennai. The likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah scored fifties while the Afghan captain scored an unbeaten 48 to take the team home with 8 wickets in hands. It was their first ODI win against Pakistan and also their second in the ongoing tournament.

On the other hand, the entire Pakistan camp and the cricket fraternity back home have been jolted by the defeat. Skipper Babar Azam admitted that the team hasn’t been playing good cricket while the experts are bashing the men in green for the epic failure.

The latest person to join the bandwagon is Kamran Akmal who has shown no mercy on the Pakistan team competing in the World Cup. Debating on Ary News, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter said he if cricket in Pakistan has to be uplifted then Babar Azam & Co. should not win their remaining games in the World Cup.

Agar Pakistan ki cricket behtar karni hai to agle koi match naa jeetein. (They shouldn’t win their upcoming games, then only cricket in Pakistan could be bettered.) They will start the same thing if they get back to form,” Akmal said on live debate.

The veteran cricketer was then interrupted by the anchor who said he can’t see the Pakistan cricket team losing in the tournament. Akmal replied that it’s not about losing the matches but diminishing the egos.

Baat haarne kin ahi hai. Inki ego khatam hogi (It’s not about losing the matches but their egos will be buried),” Akmal replied.

Backlash from all corners

Pakistan team has been facing flak from fans and experts since they lost their loss to Afghanistan. Several former cricketers have suggested the removal of Babar Azam as captain while some have questioned the fitness levels of the players.

“Pakistan have many problems to deal with. Babar Azam needs to improve a lot tactically. Hasan Ali was getting the ball to reverse towards the back end of the innings. The equation was run-a-ball at that stage. Pakistan needed wickets, and Hasan Ali looked very close to getting a dismissal. What was the need to bowl a spinner from the other end,” Ramiz said on his YouTube channel.

Pakistan will now face South Africa on Friday at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
