How Pakistan Fans Reacted to India's Qualification To Asia Cup Final? Wasim Jaffer's Sly Dig at Babar Azam's Side
With India's win over Sri Lanka giving a helping hand to Pakistan, Wasim Jaffer shared a hilarious meme on how Pakistani fans celebrated India's win over Sri Lanka

India secured a place in the final of the Asia Cup after defeating Sri Lanka in the second Super 4 match in Colombo on September 12. The victory came only a day after the Men in Blue thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan at the same venue. Following the defeat, the Babar Azam-led side now finds themselves in a tricky situation. As the equation suggests, they will need to win the final Super 4 game against Sri Lanka to book a ticket to the summit clash. Going by the scenario, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer believes India’s 41-run win over Sri Lanka has benefited Pakistan, who have registered a single victory so far in the Super 4 round.

After India edged past Sri Lanka in a low-scoring thriller, Jaffer dropped a cheeky post on X (formerly known as Twitter). The ex-Indian opener shared a photograph of Hardik Pandya in a celebratory mood and wrote, “Pakistani fans celebrating India’s win today after 228 run loss yesterday.”

As per the present standings, India are comfortably sitting at the top of the Super-4 points table after securing two back-to-back victories. If they had fallen short of Sri Lanka in the last match, the upcoming Bangladesh game would become a must-win fixture.

Meanwhile, if the defending champions had beaten India, they would have been the first team to reach the Asia Cup final. It would also make the situation worse for Pakistan, who would need to keep track of the net run rate in the final Super-4 game to find a place in the final. After two matches, both Sri Lanka and Pakistan now have two points.

Team India have been looking to be in sublime form since beginning their journey in the Super 4 round. While the batters were credited for the fascinating victory over Pakistan, it was the bowlers who shone against Sri Lanka to register a nail-biting win. Batting first on a slow track in Colombo, the Men in Blue could post just 213 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma folded up as the highest run-getter, scoring 53 runs off 48 balls.

In response, Sri Lanka also faced a similar batting collapse. While the match was going away from their hands, Dhananjaya de Silva and Dunith Wellalage stitched an inning-reviving 63-run partnership, sparking hope for a comeback. But in the end, an exceptional 4-wicket spell from Kuldeep Yadav got the job for India.
