Before the death of Jawaharlal Nehru, like many other countries, India also celebrated Children’s Day on November 20, as declared by the United Nations. However, when Jawaharlal Nehru passed away in 1964, India moved Children’s day from November 20 to November 14. Nehru served as the country’s first prime minister for a total of approximately 17 years or for 6,130 days over several terms, making him the longest serving PM in the history of the nation. He passed away on May 27, 1964, at the age of 74.
