The All India Sainik School Entrance Exam (AISSEE) 2024 registration process has begun and the last date to apply is December 16. The entrance test will be held by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to classes 6 and 9 at 33 Sainik Schools across the country. Interested and eligible students and their parents can apply at exams.nta.ac.in/AISSEE/.
Sainik Schools are English medium residential schools affiliated with CBSE. They prepare cadets to join the National Defence Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and other Training Academies, for Officers. As per the official notification, the Ministry of Defence has approved 19 new Sainik Schools and admission to class 6 of these schools will also be done through AISSEE-2024.
AISSEE 2024: Eligibility Criteria
For admission to Class 6: The candidate must be between 10 and 12 years as on March 31, 2024. Admission for girls is open for class 6, subject to the availability of vacancies. Age criteria is the same as boys.
For admission to Class 9: Candidate must be between 13 and 15 years as on March 31, 2024. They must have passed class 8, from a recognised school, at the time of admission. Admission for girls is open for class 9, subject to the availability of vacancies. Age criteria is same as boys, the official notice states.
AISSEE 2024: How To Apply
Step 1: Visit the official website of AISSEE at exams.nta.ac.in/AISSEE/
Step 2: The link to fill in AISSEE 2024 application form is available on the homepage. Upon clicking on that, candidates will be redirected to a fresh page where they will be required to register themselves
Step 3: After registration, fill in the application form and upload the documents
Step 4: Pay the AISSEE 2024 application fee. The fees for candidates belonging to general, wards of defence personnel, ex-servicemen, and OBC (NCL) categories is Rs 650. For Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribe candidates, it is Rs 500.
Step 5: Download the confirmation page for future reference.
AISSEE 2024 will be held in a pen-and-paper mode where examinees will be given OMR sheets to mark their responses. The exam will feature multiple-choice questions. For class 6, a total of 125 questions are asked for a total of 300 marks. For class 9, the total number of questions is 150 consisting of a total mark of 400. There is no negative mark for a wrong response. The question paper is available in 13 languages- English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odiya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
