Not Deepika Padukone But Shilpa Shetty The First Female Police In Cop Universe? Rohit Shetty Has THIS To Say
Having helmed Singham, Singham Returns, Simbba and Sooryavanshi, Rohit Shetty is now taking his cop universe a step ahead with Indian Police Force.

Having helmed Singham, Singham Returns, Simbba and Sooryavanshi, Rohit Shetty is now taking his cop universe a step ahead with Indian Police Force, an Amazon Prime original show that marks his debut in the web space. Along with Sidharth Malhotra and Vivek Oberoi, it also stars Shilpa Shetty Kundra and interestingly, she is the first female police officer in Rohit’s universe. At the trailer launch of the series that took place in Mumbai today, Shilpa was asked about her reaction on the same and what followed left the audience in splits.

On being asked about being Rohit’s first female cop, Shilpa laughed and said, ‘What? Say that again? Sir, suna aapne?’ This was followed by a fun banter between her and Rohit. For the unversed, he has roped in Deepika Padukone to play a lady cop in Singham Again named Shakti Shetty. It is the first time that a female actor will join the league of Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar for a big screen cop film by Rohit. To Shilpa’s statement, he addressed the audience and smirked, “Aaj Deepika ka birthday hai na? Happy birthday, Deepika!” This left everyone burst out into peels of laughter.

Talking about what attracted her to her character in Indian Police Force, Shilpa further said, “I describe Tara Shetty as a shero. There are heroes and heroines but Tara’s a shero. She’s gritty, badass, passionate, compassionate and she’s selfless in her line of work. It’s all the qualities of someone who you would put on a pedestal.”

She also remarked that the fact that she’s married was the icing on the cake and made her take up the role, which left Sidharth in splits.

And with Indian Police Force, Shilpa ticked off an important checkbox. “When they came to narrate the part to me and the minute they said that the character is called Tara Shetty, I felt like I ticked off a checklist,” she said.

She also revealed that she has in talks with Rohit for the longest time but their plan finally came to fruition with the show. “I always wanted to work with Rohit not only because of the Shetty connection but also because of the grasp he has over this milieu. To be able to play a cop in his cop universe is nothing but a compliment for me. We were supposed to work a long, long time back but I am so happy that it started off with this part. The wait was worthwhile and you will see that when you watch the show,” she added.

Indian Police Force is set to release on January 19.
