As Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur starrer The Lunchbox clocked nine years, the latter turned nostalgic and to mark the occasion she penned an emotional note on social media. The movie connected the world with its three sentiments -love, longing, and food and its theme and storyline transcended languages and cultures. It also premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
The movie was a box office success in India and also received much appreciation from movie-goers around the world. As The Lunchbox continues to get love from cinema lovers, Nimrat Kaur took to her social media and uploaded the hit posters of the movie.
She captioned the post with a note saying, “The biggest gifts of life are the ones that age better than anything you could imagine. I thank all of you and the universe above for this precious day 9 years ago, when life as I knew it changed forever. Here’s to the perennial love and continued magic TheLunchbox spins and the immortality of the talent and heart that made it all happen. Thank you!"

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is also the producer of the movie dropped a comment saying, “Such a special film and you were so magical in it". Fans and admirers of the movie and the actors commented- “One of the rarest of rare movies", “Gem. Nobody can replace Irrfan khan. What a movie it was! I can die watching the movie", “We need more movies like this. What an amazing storyline! Your performance was amazing as ever!"
In an interview with India Today, Nimrat recalled her memories from the sets and working with the versatile actor, Irrfan Khan. She recalled enjoying cooking as it felt sweet and intimate and quiet. She adored the interactions with the character Deshpande Aunty from the movie.
She revealed that working with Irrfan Khan was the greatest pleasure but they did not grace the screen together in the film. She wished to share actual screen space but feels blessed that she could at least share the screen credits with one of the finest actors of the century.
