Joe Jonas Responds To Sophie Turner's Claim He's Withholding Their Kids' Passports: 'It's Misleading'
Sophie alleged in her lawsuit that Joe isn't letting 3-year-old Willa and their 14-month-old second daughter return to English by withholding their passports.

Just a day after Sophie Turner sued estranged husband Joe Jonas for “wrongful retention” of the couple’s two kids, the latter responded that the claims against him were “misleading.” Sophie reportedly alleged in her lawsuit that Joe isn’t letting 3-year-old Willa and their 14-month-old second daughter return to English by withholding their passports. According to Joe Jonas’ statement assessed by People, the musician emphasized the Florida court has barred both parents from relocating their kids until the end of their divorce proceedings. It is suggested Sophie was served the legal order just a day after Joe Jonas filed for divorce on September 5.

When Sophie returned to New York to be with her daughters past weekend, Joe was reportedly under the impression that the estranged couple had an understanding of co-parenting their kids amicably. Notably, in less than 24 hours of their “cordial meeting,” Sophie expressed she wanted to move the kids to the UK permanently. She filed the lawsuit to retrieve their daughter’s passport. The statement suggests, that if Joe were to hand over the passports, he would be violating the direct court order of Florida.

Joe is reportedly, “seeking shared parenting with the kids so that they are raised by both their mother and father, and is, of course, also okay with the kids being raised both in the U.S. and the UK.” Notably, he doesn’t fail to assert how the kids have spent the majority of their lives in the US. Joe’s statement also emphasizes it is a legal disagreement between the couple, wherein the word “abduction” had been used misleadingly against him. Joe reportedly asserted again that the kids weren’t “abducted” by him.

The Jonas Brothers musician reportedly hopes Sophie will reconsider her “harsh” legal move and resolve the matter in a private set-up while giving the well-being of their kids the utmost priority. The lawsuit comes just weeks after the estranged couple in a joint statement announced they’ve decided to part “amicably” on social media.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner married in 2019 and remained married for four years before an argument in August 2023 led to the downfall of their marital life. It is also brought to light that Sophie wasn’t aware Joe legally filed for dissolution of their marriage until she learned about the split through the media.
