Taylor Swift and Donna Kelce might have gotten quality time to get to know each other in the last two weeks but Travis Kelce’s mom admits she isn’t a Swiftie. The musician and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s mother have cheered on Travis at his games together but when it comes to music, she prefers songs from her era. During an interaction with People, Donna candidly spoke about her music preferences confirming she didn’t consider herself a Swiftie even before her son’s highly-publicized rumoured romance with the Shake It Off songstress. “My era was Earth, Wind and Fire, Chaka Khan, and things like that. That’s more my music,” she explained.
But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t respect the singing prowess of the 12-time Grammy winner. “Talent is talent,” she specifies. While opening up about what went through her mind while sharing the Chiefs suite with Taylor, Donna highlighted her attention was mainly on the game. “When I go to a game, I’m basically focusing on what’s happening on the field, not what’s going on around me or what’s happening in the suite,” she continued. For Donna Kelce, being a football fan takes the foremost priority whenever she’s watching her sons’ games.
Apparently, the duo first met when Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance at a Kansas City Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium. The Lover singer and Donna hugged, cheered, and celebrated the Chiefs’ victory over the Chicago Bears together. After the match, a cosy photograph of Travis and Taylor also went viral on the internet.
Their second public meeting was at the MetLife Stadium when the Chiefs took on the New York Jets. Taylor once again joined Donna in the suit alongside her star friends including Black Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Sophie Turner, among others. Donna revealed to People she felt like she was in an “alternate universe” in the setting.
It was in July when the NFL Champion admitted he developed a crush on Taylor after attending one of her Eras Tour concerts. At the time Travis wanted to give the global pop star his number but his plan didn’t work. Now, even though Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s PDA hints at a budding romance, the duo is yet to put a label on it.
