Steve Smith is doubtful for Australia’s next ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan after the star batter revealed that he has been suffering from Vertigo.
“I’ve had a bit of vertigo stuff the last day or so, so it’s just been a bit annoying. So, hopefully, I can get through training today and be all good. But, yeah, it’s not a nice place to be, revealed Smith during the pre-match presser.
When asked about whether he will be available for tomorrow’s game, Smith hopes that he will be good to go after the assessment post the net session.

“Occasionally, I’ve had a few episodes, so I can tell you it’s not the funnest space to be in, but yeah, I’ll go out and have a hit and hopefully be okay and we’ll see how we go,” he added.
Australia, who are reeling from the unavailability of Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh are currently third in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 points tally and a win against Afghanistan will bolster their chances of this place finish after the league stages, and if South Africa falter, maybe a second-place finish.
Talking about the availability of Maxwell and Marsh, Smith revealed that Marsh is back with the squad and will be training. As for Maxwell, he assumes that he the allrounder will train today.
“Marsh’s here, he’s here at training today and Max is here as well so yeah, I assume they’re training and whether they’re available tomorrow I have no idea.,” said Smith.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, with 8 points from seven games have an outside chance to make the semi if they can manage to win both their remaining games – vs Australia and then South Africa.
