Vijay Sethupathi SHUTS DOWN Reporter for Asking About Heroes Working With Younger Heroines: 'Please Leave It'
During a promotional event of 'MahaRaja', Vijay Sethupathi was asked about his opinion on male stars romancing actresses, who once played sister and daughter to them.

Vijay Sethupathi got annoyed after he was asked about male actors romancing “younger heroines” in movies. During a promotional event of ‘MahaRaja’, Vijay was asked about his opinion on male stars romancing actresses, who once played sister and daughter to them.

“I have spoken about it already,” Vijay replied to the reported, as per Indian Express.com. “I acted with Krithi Shetty in Uppenna in 2021, and later, a director told me let’s approach her for another film as a heroine. I said no because I had asked her to consider me as a dad during the climax sequence of Uppenna. So, I said no.”

The ‘Merry Christmas’ star continued, “What if she had told me that she doesn’t want to act with me because ‘this man has asked me to consider him as dad’. She can say no also. I have answered this question earlier. Please leave it.”

In a recent interview, Vijay Sethupathi spoke about his Tamil film ‘DSP’ and revealed why he refused to romance Krithi Shetty in the 2022 actioner. Vijay told Behindwoods the reason behind rejecting Krithi Shetty for the lead role in DSP was the age gap between the two.

He said, “I declined the offer of being paired opposite Krithi in DSP movie. I played her father in Uppena, which the makers didn’t know about. There’s a scene in Uppena that Krithi was nervous about when we were shooting. I even asked her to think of me as her real father while we were shooting that. She is a little older than my son. I told them I couldn’t do it.”

Vijay’s statement sparked a healthy debate on social media because a lot of 50-plus male stars are often seen romancing actresses half their age on the big screen.

During the press meet, Vijay Sethupathi also praised ‘Power Star’ Pawan Kalyan, whose party Jana Sena won all the 21 seats it contested in the Andhra Assembly elections and 2 Lok Sabha seats. Sethupathi said, “I honestly don’t know anything about him, but there were many friends from the Telugu circle who shared content on social media through which I got to know about him.”

“He has proven that he is not just a mass hero in films but also as a person. It is all because of consistency. I asked people what the fuss is all about and they said what he has actually achieved. Despite all the trolling, he has made it,” the actor added.
