The eight-time Grammy winner, Usher is taking his talents to new heights, as the singer is developing a new drama series inspired by his music.

Super Bowl 2024 not only delivered a thrilling game but also entertained audiences with star-studded performances. Usher, in particular, stole the spotlight with his memorable Halftime Show performance. Now, Variety reports that the eight-time Grammy winner is taking his talents to new heights, as the singer is developing a new drama series inspired by his music.

In collaboration with Universal Content Productions, a division of Universal Studio Group, the untitled series aims to delve into the Black love in Atlanta. At the moment, there are no confirmed networks or streaming platforms attached to the series. Meanwhile, the involvement of Usher himself in the series, either as a cameo or lead role, remains uncertain at this point.

In a statement, the Hollywood artist stated, “My 30-year catalogue has resonated with so many people no matter where they were in their lives. I’m happy to be working with UCP to bring the music to life. I hope the series resonates with you the way my music continues to.”

As per the official description, the show will be about, “Black love in Atlanta and individuals looking to find a place to call home. The series will explore music, style, sex, romance and secrets that threaten to tear relationships apart.”

Usher has been making waves in the entertainment industry. After releasing his ninth album, Coming Home, earlier this month, the singer also successfully concluded his two-year residency, My Way: The Las Vegas Residency. Looking ahead, he is gearing up for his next venture, the Past Present Future tour, which is set to kick off on May 4, in Las Vegas. The 24-city tour will take Usher to various destinations, including Atlanta, Miami, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, before wrapping up on November 27, in Houston, Texas.

The announcement of Usher’s upcoming drama series comes amidst his successful Super Bowl performance, which also boosted the streams and sales of his music catalogue. Following the halftime show, the singer experienced a surge in popularity, as reported by Billboard. On February 11-12, Usher’s music recorded 35.9 million official on-demand US streams. Additionally, his music saw a rise in sales, with 27,000 downloads in the US on February 11-12.

Hours after the Super Bowl’s performance, Usher married his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Goicoechea in Las Vegas. As per reports, his mother Jonetta Patton attended the wedding as a witness. With Jennifer, the singer shares two children, daughter Sovereign Bo and son, Sire Castrello.
