Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut’s ex Adhyayan Suman and his actor-father, Shekhar Suman, have come out in support of her after A CISF woman constable slapped the newly elected BJP MP at the security area of Chandigarh airport on Thursday.
Shekhar and Adhyayan condemned the incident while speaking to media on the sidelines of an event in Mumbai on Friday. “Wo bahut hi galat hai (That is very wrong),” Shekhar told reporters as Adhyayan nodded. Shekhar continued, “Ye bahut hi durbhagyapurn hai aur aisa kisi ke sath nahi hona chahiye. Ye gair kanooni hai jo unhone kiya hai. Iski saza unko milni chahiye. Main samajh sakta hu ki unke mann mein koi virodh tha ya koi shikayat thi lekin usko izhaar karne ka tarika bahut galat tha. Ek sabhya tarike se bhi wo kaha jaa sakta tha. Aagey aa kar wo shayad gusse mein bhi baat kahi jaa sakti thi par iss tarha se aap kisi par hath nahi utha sakte (That is very unfortunate and this should not happen to anyone. It’s illegal what she (CISF woman constable) has done. She should definitely be punished. I could understand that she must have had some anger or complaint but this is not the right way to express it. She could have also done it in a civilised manner. You can’t raise your hand on anyone like this).”
National Commission for Women chief Rekha Sharma on Thursday said strict action should be taken against the woman CISF constable who slapped Kangana. The constable has been suspended and an FIR registered against her, officials informed news agency PTI. Kangana was allegedly hit when she was on her way to Delhi. NCW chairperson Sharma said it is a serious matter as the people who are responsible for security at the airport are breaching it.
“Strict action should be taken against the lady CISF personnel. We at @NCWIndia have taken up this matter with @CISFHQrs,” Sharma said in a post on X.
In a video uploaded on her Instagram story later, Kangana said, “First of all, I am safe, I am perfectly fine… As soon as I came out after the security check, a woman in another cabin, a CISF security staff, she waited for me to cross her and hit my face from the side. She started abusing me. When I asked her why, she said that she supports the farmers’ protest. I am safe but my concern is how we handle the terrorism and extremism that is increasing in Punjab.”
