Mumbai: When director Rohit Shetty offered 'Dilwale' to one-film-old Varun Sharma, the actor was so overwhelmed that he turned numb and could not react.
Not only the him, even his mother was also stunned to hear the news and their conversation on phone was followed by silence from her side.
"When I got to know that I will be doing 'Dilwale', I was numb. I called my mother and told her, and there was a two-minute silence. We both knew how big an opportunity this was. I understood she was overwhelmed too...," Varun said.
The actor, who made his debut in 2013 film 'Fukrey', says his life has changed 'from auditions to narrations.'
Varun will be seen in a comical role in the romantic-action-drama and is thankful to superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who inspired him to become an actor.
"I was looking forward to knowing Shah Rukh and get to know how he works, what is his process like and how he is as a person. There are millions like me who dream about working with him some day," he said.
"His film 'Baazigar' really inspired me...I used to recite all the dialogues and lines as a child and he is the reason why I am in movies," the actor said.
Varun, however, has no worries about how his career will take off after 'Dilwale' and says audience's appreciation matters the most to him.
"I have not been having any conversation regarding how my career will go after 'Dilwale'. I had no idea about how my life would change after 'Fukrey'. The journey so far has been very beautiful. If I have done well in 'Dilwale' and if people like my work, then that would make me very happy," he said.
'Dilwale' also stars Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Boman Irani, Johnny Lever among others. The film is scheduled to release on December 18.
