How often do you get to see a film that keeps your curiosity intact throughout with a smile on your face? Well, Amit Roy's Running Shaadi is one such film. Starring Taapsee Pannu, Amit Sadh and Arsh Bajwa, the film explores a very relevant yet unique concept of planned elope wedding. Just like its theme, the entire film is like a garam gulabjamun on a winter wedding, come what may nothing can go wrong with this.
The story is of Ram Bharose who falls in love with Nimmi, daughter of his boss. After helping her out with a life-crisis situation, Nimmi also develops feelings for him. But they soon part ways. Meanwhile, frustrated with his miser boss, Ram quits working in his shop and while gate crashing a wedding comes up with an idea of Running Shaadi.
With the help of Nimmi, Ram and his friend open up the website and start their eloping business. With few hiccups here and there the business flourishes until one life-altering decision comes to knocking at Ram's door.
With some fun antics, Ram's innocence and Nimmi's haughty behaviour, the film makes for an entertaining watch. While there may be scenes which appear stretched, the end covers up well. All the light-heartedness makes you wonder why the film was delayed for so long. Happy-go-luck films of this kinds are rarely made in Bollywood and should be promoted for an enjoyable experience.
The film also touches upon the topic of love, inter-caste marriage and various taboo surrounding love. The realism with which the entire topic has been treated is commendable. At a point you just find yourself engrossed in their plans and pray for their success.
However, one thing that doesn't quite go well with the entire vibe of the film is its music. The music doesn't add up to the storyline and feels forced at a point. Despite roping in one of the most breezy music-director like Anupam Roy, the film's narrative fails to make the music inclusive of the narrative.
Overall, despite few hiccups, the entire good vibe and vibrant nature of Running Shaadi makes it a worthy watch this weekend. Just go for this easy-breezy film and come out with a smile or a plan of elopement during a wedding.
