A day after Poonam Pandey’s death was announced on her Instagram handle, the actress came out in a video statement on Saturday morning and clarified that she is still alive. She argued that the motive of her death news was to create awareness regarding cervical cancer. However, the ‘awareness stunt’ has not gone down well with the netizens. Poonam Pandey has left the nation shocked and furious. The actress has now apologised publically for her actions.
Speaking on Hauterrfly’s Instagram Live, Poonam apologised to everyone and opened up about how all her closest friends are angry at her. “I think I have hurt a lot of people, a lot of my friends and loved ones. I feel terrible. I’ve been receiving a lot of calls. But I did this for a cause. I did not make any money. This was for cervical cancer. No one was willing to take this campaign,” she said.
Poonam added that her mother also had cancer and that’s why this cause is close to her heart. Poonam said that while her measures were drastic, she thinks her message was well delivered. She added, “I’m glad that since yesterday, all I’m seeing are messages about cervical cancer. The message was right…. a lot of my best friends are angry at me – Saisha, Shardul – but my message has gone right.”
“Nobody had a clue where I was. My PR team did not know where I was,” Poonam revealed. “I’m sorry to Parul (PR manager), Saisha, Shardul if I’ve hurt you… I don’t know if they’ll even talk to me, but it was purely for a good cause,” Poonam said.
Poonam said that she knows she will receive a lot of backlash for her actions but she believes in her message. She added that she will be spreading more awareness about cervical cancer and meeting cancer patients as well.
