One of the leading television actresses in the country, Shweta Tiwari is currently the newest sensation on OTT because of her last release, Indian Police Force. Before her oTT debut, she was an undisputed television queen after going through a lot in her personal life.
The 43-year-old actress has maintained her charm and unmatched screen presence all through her two-decade-old career. Arguably one of the biggest TV actresses in the country, Shweta Tiwari gained fame through her role as Prerna Sharma in the superhit television show Kasautii Zindagii Kay.
She made her debut in the entertainment industry when she was only 12 years old. Before venturing into television and Bollywood, she was a popular name in the Bhojpuri film industry. While working there, she met the Bhojpuri actor Raja Chaudhary, whom she later married in 1998, at the age of 18. After two years of their marriage, the couple had a daughter, Palak Tiwari. Furthermore, after being married for nine years, Shweta filed for divorce from Raja in 2007. According to her, their marriage went sour because of Raja’s domestic violence and alcoholism issues.
A few years later, she began dating actor Abhinav Kohli. After 3 years of courtship, the couple got married in 2013 and in 2016 they had a son, Reyansh Kohli. In 2019, she filed a complaint against Abhinav, accusing him of domestic violence towards her as well as her daughter, which led to the actor’s arrest. They have been separated since.
Shweta Tiwari recently ventured into the OTT world and is celebrating the success of her new web series, Indian Police Force. The action-thriller show is directed and produced by Rohit Shetty and can be watched on Amazon Prime Video. The cast of the show includes Sidharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Mayyank Taandon and Nikitin Dheer, among many others. It is made under the banner of Rohit Shetty Picturez and Reliance Entertainment. It premiered on January 19, 2024.
