The trailer for Grrr starring Kunchacko Boban and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles and directed by Jay K, was released yesterday. The trailer features a gripping scene where Kunchacko Boban’s character, Rejimon Nadar, jumps into the lion’s cage at the Thiruvananthapuram zoo.
The one-minute, 57-second video begins with a surprising message suggesting that Rejimon Nadar may have been killed out of a sense of honour or cheated in love after his disappearance. A few moments later, it is revealed that Rejimon jumped into the lion’s den at the zoo while intoxicated.
Suraj Venjaramoodu plays Haridas, a zoo employee who is given an urgent assignment to rescue Rejimon before the fire brigade and police arrive. The situation escalates when Haridas himself gets trapped in the lion’s den along with Rejimon. The duo’s misadventures and their efforts to escape the dangerous situation form the crux of the film’s comedic narrative.
The trailer also gives glimpses into the relationship between Haridas and his wife, adding a personal layer to the unfolding drama. Meanwhile, scenes of Rejimon’s romantic entanglements add comedy. The hints about the media circus surrounding the incident promise a satirical look at the furore that often accompanies sensational news.
Grrr is Jay K’s second film after Ezra and promises to be a fun comedy. The screenplay has been co-written by Jay K and Praveen S. Besides Kunchacko Boban and Suraj Venjaramoodu, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast including Rajesh Madhavan, Shruti Ramachandran, Anagha, Alencier Ley Lopez and many others.
The promotions for Grrr are in full swing. Recently, the makers have taken a unique step to promote the film, involving children. Kunchacko Boban and Suraj Venjaramoodu, the leads of the film, presented children with special masks and textbook name slips, as part of its promotion. The slips were printed with the image of a lion named Darshan, one of the main characters in the film. Reportedly, the makers believe that once the schools reopen, they will get to have a unique experience with Grrr’s release.
