After Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek has now clarified that The Great Indian Kapil Show is not going off-air. Recently, Kapil Sharma announced the wrap-up of season one of his Netflix show, which left everyone wondering if the show is going off-air due to low TRPs.
However, Krushna Abhishek has now explained that the TGIKS team wrapped up season one because they were bound by the contract. “Arre band nahi horaha humara show, ye sirf pehla season khatam hora hai. Humara contract tha woh khatam hua hai season 1 ka,” he recently said as quoted by E-Times.
For the unversed, The Great Indian Kapil Show premiered on Netflix on March 30, 2024, with Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni as guests. So far, it has welcomed several celebrity guests including Diljit Dosanjh, Parineeti Chopra, Imtiaz Ali, Vicky Kaushal, Sunny Kaushal, Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol among others. In the upcoming episode, globally popular singer Ed Sheeran will also be gracing the show.
However, earlier this month, it was revealed that Kapil Sharma has wrapped up the last episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show. This left many wondering if the show was going off-air due to low TRP.
Later, in an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Kiku Sharda also revealed that the wrap-up is only “temporary”. He confirmed that the team will be back with the second season of TGIKS after a short break. “We have done 13 episodes and the second season will come out soon. We have just wrapped up the first season. It was always meant to be like this. We have already planned the next season and it will come out soon. There won’t be a very huge gap,” he told us.
Kiku admitted that the show used to run for a longer time on television but added that they switched to digital to try a different format. “On television, it used to be longer but it is about different formats. This is also interesting. There will be a short gap now and the second season will be back soon. It sounds like a wrap because we make it look like it. But it is temporary. We will be functioning soon again,” he added.
