Kamal Haasan's Thug Life With Mani Ratnam Will Be 'Fantastic', Producer Says Fans Will 'Love It'

It is no secret that Kamal Haasan is reuniting with Mani Ratnam after 37 years for a film titled ‘Thug Life’. While its shooting is currently underway, writer and director Siva Ananth has now revealed that they are leaving no stone unturned to provide an make sure that the audience loves it.

In a recent interview with India Today, Siva Ananth opened up about Thug Life and shared that the film will be “fantastic”. “It is shaping up really well. We are very excited. It has been an absolutely fabulous ride – going with Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam on board. The film is going to be fantastic. They are going to love it. We are loving it,” he said.

The director further revealed that the shooting of Thug Life began in January this year and is still underway. “We are right in the middle of the shoot. We don’t know the exact date of the shoot wrap-up, but we are enjoying this phase. We will make a proper announcement when we are done with the shoot, though,” he added.

“We have done a lot in the film. Hopefully, the audience will see that. That X-factor will shine in theatres. Don’t worry,” Ananth concluded.

Besides Kamal Haasan, Thug Life also stars Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, Dulquer Salmaan, Nassar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sanya Malhotra, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, and Ali Fazal in key roles. The film’s release date has not been announced as of now.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan was recently seen in Kalki 2898 AD. Haasan played the role of Supreme Yaskin, a despotic ruler overseeing the resource-rich Complex. The Nag Ashwin’s directorial also starred Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in key roles. In a recent interview, Ashwin hinted that while Haasan has a limited role in Kalki 2898 AD, the sequel is going to be an out-and-out Tamil superstar’s show. “It’s fully him being the antagonist,” he said.

Kalki 2898 AD recorded the third biggest opening in Indian cinema with its massive Rs 191.8 crore box office collection worldwide. The film has earned over Rs 1000 crore worldwide as of now.
