Actor Kamal Haasan’s ex-wife, Vani Ganapathy, is an Indian classical dancer. She started performing when she was seven and has travelled across the world for her performances. She lives in Bangalore, where she founded a dance academy named Sanchari. In 1978, Vani married actor Kamal Haasan. She appeared with him in the 1975 film Melnattu Marumagal. After their marriage, Vani worked as Kamal Haasan’s costume designer on various films. They divorced ten years later, in 1988. Recently, Vani Ganapathy participated in a program, and photographs from the event are currently going viral. In the photos, Vani – who is now 73 years old – is looking fit and beautiful, which is garnering everyone’s attention.
In the viral picture, Vani Ganapathy draped a black silk saree with an orange border. She teamed it with a matching orange blouse. In the photograph, she is seen sitting in an auditorium. She chose glam makeup, including brown eyeshadow, kohl-rimmed eyes, and a nude lipstick. She rounded off her look with a heavy necklace set, matching bangles, and a red bindi. She looked elegant.
Talking about her personal life back in 2015, Vani Ganapathy broke her silence about her divorce from the Tamil superstar when he reportedly claimed that she left him on the verge of bankruptcy. In an interview, Vani shared that, “For 28 years, we have been divorced, and I have always refrained from mudslinging because it’s a very private affair. Things may be spoken in the heat of the moment, when everything is still fresh, but both of us have moved on. Why is he behaving like an obsessed man?”
Vani Ganapathy stated that she chose to speak out because she did not want anyone to believe her financial security was only owing to the alimony she got from Kamal Haasan.
Dismissing Kamal Haasan’s alleged claim, Vani Ganapathy said, “Alimony and divorce go hand in hand. But me making him bankrupt is completely false. In what court in the world has alimony been allowed to drive someone to bankruptcy?”
She further added that she was completely in shock when she read the news. She said, “His ego may have been hurt when I left the marriage, but a lot has transpired since then.”
Following his divorce from Vani Ganapathy, Kamal Haasan started dating actress Sarika. In 1986, the two welcomed their first child, daughter Shruti Haasan. Two years later, in 1988, Kamal and Sarika got married. The couple then had their second daughter, Akshara, in 1991. Kamal Haasan and Sarika parted ways in 2004.
