Abhishek Banerjee, over the last five years, has established himself as one of the critically acclaimed actors in Bollywood. He propelled to fame with the film Stree directed by Amar Kaushik. Since then, there has been no turning back for Abhishek and he has gained accolades for his acting prowess in many web series and films. As per the reports, he is also getting a staggering amount as well for his acting projects, Reportedly, he was paid Rs 45 lakh for playing the role of Janardan ‘Jana’ in Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya. He reportedly received Rs 40 lakh for his role in the film Apurva, directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat. Abhishek will also reportedly receive a massive fee for his role in the second season of the hit web series Paatal Lok. As per the reports, he worked at a comparatively lower fee for the first season of Paatal Lok. He, however, has now reportedly asked for twice his earlier fee to act in the sequel to Paatal Lok. Abhishek’s character Vishal ‘Hathoda’ Tyagi, was one of the most dreaded characters in the Paatal Lok series.

Abhishek has earned a fan following for mostly playing comic characters with great finesse. He, however, has played many diverse characters as well, like- sexual predator in Ajji (2017) and criminals in the web series Mirzapur (2018) and Typewriter (2019). Abhishek interacted with the Scroll regarding this and said,” The thing with the film industry is if you become popular in one kind of role, you keep getting cast in the same thing,” he said. “My first full-fledged role was in Ajji, then I played a bad guy in Phillauri, but they weren’t hits like Stree, which came later. So if Hathoda Tyagi works, you may find me doing dark roles one after another.”

Abhishek has now an interesting lineup of projects in his acting pipeline. He will act in the films Section 84, Go Goa Gone 2, Mr Lele, Stree 2, etc. Abhishek also works as a casting director and has been associated with the films Street Dancer 3D, Jai Mummy Di, Pati Patni Aur Woh, etc. He also turned narrator for the book Boots, Belts and Berets.
