Emily Blunt Reveals Why She Hasn't Been Part Of Any Superhero Film
While Emily Blunt did not specify which role she was considered for in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, she admitted that she felt she wasn't the right fit for the part.

Actress Emily Blunt has recently confirmed that she once had the opportunity to work with Christopher Nolan on his famed Dark Knight trilogy. In a recent interview with Happy, Sad, Confused, the Oppenheimer star mentioned that she had a brief meeting with Nolan regarding a potential role in the trilogy. While Blunt did not specify which role she was considered for, she admitted that she felt she wasn’t the right fit for the part. “I met him very briefly, but I don’t think I was right,” Blunt explained.

Blunt has been linked to superhero roles in the past, having been offered the role of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and fan cast in roles like Captain Marvel and Sue Storm.

In a 2021 interview on The Howard Stern Show, Blunt expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm surrounding these roles but stated that superhero movies might not be her cup of tea.

“It’s not that it’s beneath me,” Blunt said. “I love Iron Man and when I got offered Black Widow. I was obsessed with Iron Man. I wanted to work with Robert Downey Jr. – it would’ve been amazing…but I don’t know if superhero movies are for me. They’re not up my alley. I don’t like them. I really don’t. It’s been exhausting. We are inundated – it’s not only all the movies, it’s the endless TV shows as well. It’s not to say that I’d never want to play one, it would just have to be something so cool and like a really cool character, and then I’d be interested,” reported Comicbook.

As for the legendary director, there has been much speculation about the next cinematic endeavor for Christopher Nolan. Following the success of Oppenheimer, there has been no official announcement of his future projects as of now.

However, Nolan hinted in a late 2023 interview that his next film will likely be less dark in tone. “I definitely– part of me wants to leave the story behind,” Nolan explained.

He called it a great privilege to be able to talk about a film that has been made. The filmmaker added that he was very glad to be able to sit and talk about the success of the movie. However, he also felt like moving his genre far from the grim.

“That’s a huge privilege. But the subject matter is very dark. It’s nihilistic. And, yeah, there’s part of me that’s quite keen to move on and maybe do something, you know, not quite as bleak,” added Nolan as per the portal.
