May 29 marks the 72nd birth anniversary of the late Kannada actor and politician Ambareesh. On this day, another Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa conveyed his tribute to the late actor. He unveiled the common display picture of the Rebel Star, as Ambareesh was fondly called, on social media.
The CDP shows the Chakravyuha actor dressed in white attire and holding an axe in his hands. Miniatures of his fans holding the flags bearing his photos in front of him are also visible. The photos of the late Kannada actor’s popular films are also shown in the Common Display Picture. These films are reminiscent of the angry young man characters played by the Chakravyuha actor.
Ambareesh was known amongst his diehard followers for playing the angry young man characters with utmost perfection. Darshan wrote the caption of this CDP in Kannada which when loosely translated means, “Thanks to the fan base for allowing us to release CDP on the occasion of the birthday of our all-favorite rebel star Ambi Appaji. Ambi Appaji is alive with us, always supporting us in our devotional works."
Kannada actor and former Congress MLA from Mandya, Ambareesh died on November 24, 2018, at Bengaluru’s Vikram Hospital. He had been admitted for multiple ailments and had to undergo treatment at the intensive care unit. He served as a Union Minister of State in the UPA government, led by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. His body was briefly kept at the Kanteerava stadium in Bengaluru for people to pay their last respects.
The Chakravyuha actor had been a member of parliament on three occasions from 1998-99, 1999-2004 and 2004-2009. He was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, from 2006 to 2008. He entered politics in 1995. Apart from politics, he also remained successful in his acting career. Ambareesh was the recipient of the National Award for his debut film Nagara Haavu in 1972. He earned the nickname of ‘Rebel star’ over the years, especially after his impeccable acting skills in the movie Chakravyuha.
