Investigations have disclosed that Manikandan was in Chennai at the time of the burglary, and it remains unclear if other valuables from the house were also taken.

M Manikandan, the National Award-winning filmmaker, known for directing critically acclaimed movies like Kaaka Muttai and Kadaisi Vivasayi, hails from Usilampatti, a town in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district. Unfortunately, recent reports indicate that burglars have targeted his residence in Usilampatti. The perpetrators allegedly broke into his house, making off with more than Rs 1 lakh in cash and over five sovereigns of gold.

Investigations have disclosed that Manikandan was in Chennai at the time of the burglary, and it remains unclear if other valuables from the house were also taken. A formal complaint has been filed with the police regarding the incident. Authorities from the Usilampatti Nagar Police Station have initiated an investigation to apprehend the suspects involved.

Besides, the actress Kasiammal, known for her supporting role in Kadisi Vivasayi, was allegedly murdered by her alcoholic son following a money dispute. The 74-year-old refused to provide money to her son, Nammakodi (51), who intended to purchase alcohol. A confrontation ensued between the mother and son, during which Nammakodi reportedly struck her with a wooden slab, resulting in fatal injuries. Kasiammal tragically passed away on February 4 at 3 AM as a result of the altercation.

In August 2023, it was revealed that director Manikandan would be making his debut on the OTT platform with a new series for Disney+ Hotstar. The series stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, marking their third collaboration following Aandavan Kattalai and Kadaisi Vivasayi.
