'Aparna Vastarey Never Flaunted Her Celebrity Status': Singer Sunitha
Singer Sunitha that she and Aparna Vastarey were friends for 15 long years.

Popular Kannada actress and anchor Aparna Vastarey passed away following a two-year battle with lung cancer on July 11, 2024. She died at the age of 57. Her death shocked the Kannada entertainment industry. In a recent show named Raja Rani – Gicchi GiliGili Mahamilana, singer Sunitha spoke about Aparna.

She became emotional while talking about the late anchor. She mentioned that she and Aparna were friends for 15 long years. She revealed that Aparna always loved to stay simple amid such name and fame.

As per reports, Aparna was part of more than one hundred shows. Her contribution to the Kannada entertainment industry is remembered to date. Sunitha said, “She never considered herself a great anchor nor flaunted about her celebrity status. She loved to remain simple despite having so much fame. Aparna never targeted big things rather she always cherished the small milestones that she achieved in her career.” The singer added that Aparna used to love eating pani puri and never had the desire to enjoy expensive things. Her eyes were filled with tears while she remembered her friend.

Sunitha further shared that she and Aparna shared a good bond. She recalled an event where she approached the anchor to conduct a programme about her father. Sunitha said, “Once I approached Aparna for conducting a show on my father. She listened to my request and agreed to host the show. She did an excellent job there. From that point, our relationship grew to a deep friendship.” Later Sunitha and Aparna were seen together in many shows that were loved by the audiences.

Aparna started her career in the entertainment industry as an actress. She made her film debut with the 1985 film Masanada Hoovu under the direction of Puttanna Kanagal. Her performance in the film was highly praised by the audience and the critics. Following the success she appeared in several other Kannada films like Sangrama, Nammoora Raja, Sahasa Veera, Mathru Vathsalya, Olavina Asare, Inspector Vikram, Ondaagi Balu, and Doctor Krishna. In 1990, she then started pursuing a career as a television presenter in DD Chandana.
