Popular Tamil actor Charle, known for his comic characters and supporting roles in the 80s-90s, is currently dominating the headlines. His son Ajay Thangasamy married a woman named Permiciya Demi on June 10, 2024. The wedding happened in a grand ceremony in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, actor Kamal Haasan and music composer Ilaiyaraaja attended the wedding ceremony. Composer and singer Gangai Amaran and director Santhana Bharathi also attended the function. Two of the most renowned actors Nassar and Prabhu became a part of the wedding ceremony as well.
Celebrities from the business community also graced this event. Photos of the newly married couple and the prominent guests of the wedding have surfaced on Instagram. Chief Minister Stalin congratulated the bride and groom by presenting them with a bouquet.
Charle’s original name is Velmurugan Thangasamy Manohar. He has proved his acting mettle in more than 800 Tamil films as a comedian and supporting actor. He was named after the late English comedian Charlie Chaplin. Besides being a talented artist, Charle has also kept himself ahead in academics. He holds a Master of Arts degree from Madurai Kamaraj University and a Master of Philosophy degree from Karaikkudi Alagappa University. The 64-year-old actor submitted his dissertation for M Phil. in the title Contributions of Comedians in the Growth of Tamil Cinema- 1937 to 1967.
Charle received a PhD in Tamil on the topic of Humour in Tamil Cinema from Tamil University, Thanjavur in October 2019. His guide was Professor K Ravindran, former Head of the Drama department, at Tamil University. On the work front, Charle last acted in the film Kondraal Paavam directed by Dayal Padmanabhan. Starring Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Santhosh Prathap and others, this film was released on March 10, 2023, and garnered positive reviews. Charle played the role of Karuppusamy in this film which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
Besides Kondraal Paavam, Charle is also known for his acting skills in the films Girivalam, Thamizh and Mei. As of now, there are no updates regarding any of his upcoming film projects.
