According to data released by Uttar Pradesh Health Department, 11 people have succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 268 in the state. While there are 3,927 active cases and 5,908 patients have been cured of the disease.

Among the 11 fresh fatalities, two are from Firozabad, and one each from Meerut, Kanpur Nagar, Moradabad, Rampur, Bulandshahr, Sultanpur, Badaun, Banda and Hathras, a health department bulletin said.

The kit, which has been developed by the Department of Molecular Medicine and Biotechnology of the institute, would cost around Rs 150, as claimed by the doctors at the SGPGI.

While two of the migrant workers died on the spot, another succumbed to his injuries at a district hospital. The injured were referred to the Trauma Centre in Lucknow and are currently under treatment there.

Unidentified people desecrated an idol of Lord Hanuman at a temple in neighbouring Shamli district in western Uttar Pradesh, following which tension prevailed in the area, police said on Wednesday.
