Team India skipper Rohit Sharma missed out on his century in the crucial ODI World Cup clash against England on Sunday in Lucknow. Rohit continued his fine form with the bat and pulled out India from a tricky position with his 87-run knock at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. It was the first time when India batted first in this World Cup and it didn’t turn out well for them. The hosts were three down for just 40 runs. However, skipper Rohit reduced them with a solid 91-run stand with KL Rahul (39) for the fourth wicket.
The Indian skipper adapted himself quickly according to the pitch as it was not an ideal surface for the batters and had some assistance for both pacers and spinners.

Rohit faced 101 balls and scored 87 runs which was laced with 10 fours and three sixes.
The swashbuckling opener broke several records during his magnificent knock as he completed 18,000 runs in international cricket. He joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly in the list of Indians breaching the 18,000-run mark.
Meanwhile, it was also his 100th match as Indian captain and he made it memorable with a fine knock.
However, it was the 37th over of the innings when Rohit looked to dispatch the ball over deep mid-wicket for a maximum but failed to time it well and caught by Liam Livingstone who held onto the catch despite his right knee getting stuck into the ground.
