India To Host 71st Miss World Pageant After 28 Years; All You Need To Know
The last time India hosted the Miss World pageant was in 1996 in Bengaluru.

The 71st Miss World pageant is making a comeback to India after a 28-year hiatus. The month-long extravaganza kicks off in New Delhi on February 18 and concludes in Mumbai on March 9, 2024. Julia Morley CBE, Chairman of Miss World, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Excitement fills the air as we proudly announce India as the host country for Miss World. A celebration of beauty, diversity, and empowerment awaits. Get ready for a spectacular journey!”

The stunning Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, the picturesque G-20 venue, and the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi will host this year’s Miss World.

The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) kicks off the festivities with ‘The Opening Ceremony’ and ‘India Welcomes the World Gala’ at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi on February 20. The crowning moment, the 71st Miss World Global Finale, is on March 9 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Each contestant has a dedicated media channel on MissWorld.com to showcase why they deserve a spot in the Top 20 Finals. Don’t miss the live broadcast from Mumbai on March 9 at 7:30 pm.

Competitions at the Miss World pageant include the World Top Designer Award, Miss World Top Model, Miss World Sports Challenge, Miss World Talent Final, Multi-Media Challenge, and Head To Head Challenge Final. The Continental Beauty With A Purpose Challenge and the grand Miss World Red Carpet Special will add glamour to this extraordinary event.

Shetty, hailing from Karnataka, is Femina Miss India World 2022, with a background in Finance and Accounting. Trained in Bharatnatyam, she boasts a significant following on social media and has previously won Miss India Karnataka. The Miss World pageant has seen India win the title multiple times, with notable victors like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 1994 and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in 2000.

Founded in 1951, the Miss World contest transcends traditional beauty pageants, emphasising intelligence and the ability to create positive change through humanitarian service. As the upcoming event unfolds, Karolina Bielawska from Poland, the current Miss World, will pass on the crown, marking another chapter in the history of this esteemed pageant.
